The Group 1 Golden Jubilee Stakes looks a marvellous race on Saturday. With competitors from England, Ireland, France, Australia and New Zealand it is a truly international heat.
The Hughie Morrison-trained Sakhees Secret looks to be the home side´s best chance. When winning the July Cup at Newmarket he had Marchand D´Or and Dandy Man behind.
The more likely Irish runners are the Aidan O´Brien-trained Astronomer Royal and US Ranger neither of which particularly appeal as sprinters.
The New Zealand mare Seachange has top class form at home but will that be good enough for one of the season´s top furlong sprints?
Takeover Target from Australia ran a fine race on Tuesday in the King´s Stand when second to Equiano from Spain. He looks sure to make a bold bid to improve on last year´s second in this race.
From France the Freddie Head-trained Marchand D´Or appeals as the likely winner. In his first race of the season he beat Equiano over 5f at Chantilly. Having won the Gr 1 Prix Maurice De Gheest over 6.5f twice he will be well suited by Saturday´s 6f.
It is also worth noting that Equiano was receiving 13lbs at Chantilly whereas Takeover Target on Tuesday was only conceding 6lbs.
In the Wokingham two horses that appeal are last year´s runner-up Intrepid Jack and also Lipocco.
The Ryan Moore-ridden Intrepid Jack has clearly been trained for this race. In his first run since August he just failed to collar Fyodor over an inadequate 5f at Haydock.
Lipocco also put in a sterling first run of the season when a close 2nd at Windsor. Now ridden by Seb Sanders he should also be involved.
